FAQs
The EV charging industry is full of myths, jargon, and complexity. These are the questions property owners actually ask.
What does 3V Infrastructure do?
3V funds, installs, owns, and operates EV charging at multifamily communities, hotels, workplaces, and other commercial properties. We cover the upfront cost and handle everything from design and installation to maintenance and driver support. Property owners can offer EV charging as an amenity without spending capital or taking on an operational burden.
Where does 3V Infrastructure operate?
We work with real estate portfolio owners across the U.S.
Why should my portfolio work with 3V Infrastructure?
3V brings the capital, expertise, and long-term operations needed to deploy charging across a portfolio. Our team has built and operated tens of thousands of EV chargers over our careers. We’ve deployed charging at hundreds of properties for some of the largest owners in real estate.
How is 3V different from other EV charging providers?
Most providers sell hardware, install it, and walk away. 3V invests in, owns, and operates charging infrastructure for the long term. We pay the upfront cost and handle all ongoing maintenance, support, and operations. We size every installation to what the site actually needs instead of overbuilding, and because we’re hardware agnostic, we choose the right equipment for each location. With our 3V No Cost solution for multifamily properties, 3V only earns when the chargers are working, so our incentives stay aligned with yours for the life of the site.
What types of properties does 3V work with?
We work with “long-dwell” properties, where cars stay parked for extended periods: multifamily communities, hotels and resorts, hospitals and medical offices, workplaces, retail, parking garages, and other commercial real estate. 3V offers property owners the simplest way to add EV charging across their entire portfolio.
Does 3V rely on government funding?
No. We don’t rely on incentives or subsidies in our underwriting, so our projects stay economically sound as policy changes. We pursue incentives when they apply, but our projects and timelines don’t depend on them.
My residents don’t have EVs yet, why should I care about EV charging?
EV adoption is accelerating, and charging is fast becoming an expected amenity. About 1.5 million EVs were sold in the U.S. in 2025, roughly 10% of all new vehicles. Globally, one in four new cars sold in 2025 was electric. Drivers who switch expect to charge where they live, work, and stay, and properties that offer charging now are better placed to meet that demand.
What benefits does EV charging bring to my property?
EV charging helps properties stand out, attract and retain residents and tenants, and improve the overall experience. Those benefits can boost NOI and strengthen property value. With 3V funding, installing, and operating the infrastructure, you get the benefits without the capital cost or operational burden.
What is the difference between Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 charging?
- Level 1 uses a standard 120V outlet and adds about 5 miles of range per hour. It does not require infrastructure upgrades to the property, and the cord usually comes with the car.
- Level 2 uses 240V, like a clothes dryer, and can fully charge most EVs in 4–6 hours. Level 2 charging is ideal for long-dwell locations like homes, hotels, workplaces, and retail, and it tends to be the best solution for most people’s day to day driving.
- Level 3 DC fast charging uses 480V and needs significant electrical upgrades. It can charge a vehicle in an hour or less, but it can cost more than $100,000 per charger. It’s best for fast public charging along travel routes.
Why does 3V focus on Level 2 charging?
EV drivers want to charge their cars the same way they charge their phones: while they’re at rest and parked for hours. Level 2 is the most convenient, reliable, and affordable way to do that. 3V is focused on expanding the Level 2 charging that supports everyday driving.
Does 3V have proprietary hardware or software?
No. 3V is a capital provider and long-term owner-operator, not a hardware or software manufacturer. We partner with leading, proven providers. Level 2 technology is already mature. The bigger challenges for property owners are capital and operational complexity, and 3V solves both.
Are the chargers at 3V projects OCPP compliant and interoperable?
Yes. Every charger we install is compliant with OCPP (the Open Charge Point Protocol), the open industry standard. That means chargers can be moved to a different software platform if needed, which reduces vendor and operational risk.
How does 3V ensure technology stays current over time?
3V covers the cost of upgrades and equipment replacements for the life of the agreement. Charging hardware typically lasts 5–7 years, but changing technology and compliance standards can require updates sooner. We proactively upgrade equipment as needed to provide a reliable experience.
How much does charging cost property owners with the 3V No Cost solution?
Nothing. No CapEx, no OpEx, ever. 3V fully funds, builds, owns and operates the charging infrastructure across your multifamily portfolio, while you get reimbursed for electricity costs from day one and share in the profit.
Do property owners receive a revenue share?
Yes. With 3V No Cost, property owners share in charging revenue once 3V has recovered of our initial investment, allowing owners to share in the upside.
How does 3V make money with the No Cost capital solution?
We earn revenue by applying a modest margin to the price drivers pay to charge. That margin funds our investment and the ongoing operation and maintenance. We only succeed when residents use the chargers, so we’re motivated to keep charging affordable and reliable.
How long are 3V No Cost agreements?
3V No Cost agreements are typically 10 years, reflecting the long life of charging infrastructure. Agreements are designed specifically with real estate owners in mind. They are fully assignable and will not impact an owner’s ability to sell a property.
What is the installation process like?
3V manages it from start to finish: site assessment, design, permitting, utility coordination, and construction. We work closely with your team to minimize disruption and keep you informed, with as little time required from your staff as possible.
Who maintains the EV chargers and handles repairs?
3V owns the charging infrastructure and is responsible for ongoing maintenance and repairs. We monitor stations proactively, so property teams are not responsible for any day-to-day operations.
What happens if EV adoption grows faster or slower than expected?
Our data driven planning helps us meet realistic demand without overbuilding. We continuously monitor charger utilization and add more chargers at your property as demand increases.
Does 3V provide customer support for drivers?
Yes, drivers can access 24/7 support through the charging network. Issues are immediately flagged to 3V, and our team monitors stations proactively to ensure reliability.
How does the 3V No Cost model work?
3V No Cost is our flagship solution for multifamily portfolios. 3V fully funds, builds, and operates the charging at no cost to you. We reimburse your electricity costs from day one, and once 3V recoups its investment, you share in the profits. We take on the risk, and you share the upside.
What happens if I sell a property?
3V agreements transfer with the property and are designed to support smooth ownership transitions. Buyers view 3V agreements as a value-adding amenity, like laundry or telecom agreements.
How does 3V decide how many chargers to install?
We’re here to partner with you for the long haul. We use hyperlocal EV adoption trends to right-size each property for today’s demand, then monitor usage and add chargers as demand grows.
How much does charging cost property owners with 3V Subscribed?
3V Subscribed is offered at a predictable monthly rate per charging port. There are two pricing tiers: one for new installations and one for sites with existing infrastructure.
The monthly fee includes everything needed to deploy and operate charging, including equipment, installation, networking, software, 24/7 driver support, proactive monitoring, maintenance, and insurance, so owners can add charging at a consistent, fixed cost for no CapEx, and with no operational burden.
Who retains charging revenue with 3V Subscribed?
Property owners retain 100% of the charging revenue. Unlike other charging-as-a-service models, 3V is paid only through the monthly fee and takes no share of charging revenue. You control driver pricing through the software platform, and our team can help you set it.
How does 3V Subscribed work?
3V Subscribed is available for any property type, including hospitality, healthcare, education, multifamily, office, retail, and mixed-use. You pay a fixed monthly fee per charging port, with no upfront capital. The fee covers everything: equipment, installation, networking, software, monitoring, maintenance, 24/7 driver support, and insurance. You set driver pricing and keep 100% of the charging revenue.
How long are 3V Subscribed agreements?
3V Subscribed agreements are typically eight years, with simple options to renew or transfer ownership at the end of the term.
What is the installation process like?
3V manages it from start to finish: site assessment, design, permitting, utility coordination, and construction. We work closely with your team to minimize disruption and keep you informed, with as little time required from your staff as possible.
Who do drivers contact for support?
Drivers have access to 24/7 customer support through the charging software provider. Any technical or operational issues are automatically flagged to 3V for resolution, ensuring prompt service and minimal disruption.
